About this project |

The factory renovation project located in Soi Navanakorn 7, Patumthani presents an interesting challenge for the design team. The owner has requested that a rain-covering be built to connect the two existing buildings, A and B. However, the design team has suggested an additional roof and facade to make the buildings functionally connected and appear as one. The project's design has taken into account material weight due to the limited load of the existing structure. The design team has also kept the existing foundational structure due to construction cost, process, and commercial issues.

The project's primary goal is to connect the two existing buildings A and B functionally. The design team has suggested an additional roof and facade to create a seamless connection between the two structures. The added roof and facade would allow the two separate buildings to appear as one while providing shelter for employees, products, and equipment moving between the two buildings. The seamless connection would also make the factory more efficient by allowing for easier transportation of goods and quicker communication between departments.

However, the existing structure presents some challenges for the design team. The team has taken into account the limited load of the structure and the material weight of the added roof and facade. The weight of the materials must be kept to a minimum to avoid overburdening the existing structure. To ensure that the added weight is within the capacity of the existing structure, the team has conducted structural calculations and analyzed the load capacity of the foundations.

The design team has also kept the existing foundational structure due to construction cost, process, and commercial issues. The renovation project's goal is to improve the factory's functionality while minimizing the impact on production and costs. By keeping the existing structure, the project can be completed with minimal disruption to the factory's operation. This will also reduce the cost of construction, making the project more feasible for the owner.
